Baggy Trousers......

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Sun is shining and Ive been very productive this morning. Still cold (feel like its always going to be cold) but I always feel cheerier when the sun is out. I have done my food shop, bought birthday presents for a party on Saturday tidied up and hung the washing outside for the first time this year!

Todays outfit is casual again but no jeans so thats a bonus! I find it really hard to put a pretty dress on when I know Im not going anywhere special so its an effort not to reach for the jeans every morning. Excuse the circles under my eyes some lovely birds decided it was time for me to wake up at 5 this morning!

Today Im wearing:

brown checked wide leg trousers: Asda
white wrap shirt: Peacocks
grey lambswool tank top: Primark (somewhat stretched as I washed it on a too high setting- oops)
Long butterfly necklace
long earrings with purple discs

Purple patchwork wedge shoes- Clarks via ebay (I love these shoes and dont wear them enough), sorry for the dodgy pose couldnt get a good pic of them!

Grey nails by collection 2000 was found in a bargain bucket at Tescos yesterday at only 99p.

I will probably change the shoes for flats later as I want to take Jasmine out on her bike and these wedges however comfy, are not good for running after a 3 year old in!

Finally I thought I would share my winnings with you.

This little parcel came the other day courtesy of Alex at oddsocksandprettyfrocks blog...along with the make up and scarf she added a pair of love earrings which Im so pleased with as everyone was going on about them! So thank you Alex!

Have a good day in the sun everyone :)

Just another manic Monday.....

Happy Monday everyone! Doesnt that come round quick eh?

I feel like Im playing catch up at the minute with everything, but the sun is shining (even though there is frost on the gorund- but Im looking upwards not down lol). We went to the beach yesterday and it was so warm we had to take our coats off (good indication for a hot summer? Well thats debatable but it was lovely). As such my outfit was casual and comfy the 2 words that seem to rule my weekend outfits.

I wore (and excuse the inane look on my face! I dont know why either!):

Flared faded blue jeans: Next
white vest: Primark
Strawberry print jumper: New Look via ebay.
Fake uggs (not seen): Priceless...I only really wear these to the beach or down the fields as I can stick them straight in the washer after.

Todays outfit is slightly better but I didnt chose it...I will explain...last night I had a major strop when I opened my wardobe to a sea of skirts, dresses and trousers, and my mind went totally blank, I had to arrange an outfit for today last night as i knew I would be up and out early.....but what to wear?? After a long time pulling things out and putting them back again I was in a grump, so shutting the door I turned to Jamie and decided that HE would choose me an outfit! "Madness" I hear you cry?? Well maybe! My Oh does have style and taste but hes very much a lazy boy that will wear the first thing that comes out of the wardrobe (he went to work dressed top to toe in black today)...so I thought if anything it would give me a laugh seeing him try but I think he came up good!

Im wearing: floral and paisley print dress: Peacocks sale.
Raspberry tights: Primark
black cami: Next
Ruched cropped cardigan: ebay
green shell necklace and matching earrings: Primark
Black belt: taken from the black and white dress I wore the other day.
brown biker boots: Aldo via ebay.

What do you think? the boy did good eh? Yes there is a teeny tiny discretion to this outfit in that the dress is technically black (could be blue if you squint at it in the right light and turn your head away from the sun?) but I reckon that it *could* be allowed since the edge of the dress is actually green?? Mmmm Im sure I will get told off fo this, if so it wasnt me it was him! LOL.

Seriously though I would urge anyone to challenge their partners/friends to choosing them an outfit! If anything it will give you a laugh at the look of terror on their faces at that request!

On to other matters, I have been looking though my box of old summer clothes that a wee bit too big for me. Rather than sell/ donate them then have to buy a whole new lot again I have decided to try my hand at adapting them for my size now. So I have a few items that I will post over the next few days to gauge an opinion on what (and how) to do with them. So first up is this skirt:

I bought this in the Next sale a few years ago. It is a size 14 but too big for me so will have to take the waist in. However I like the fabric of it (its like a crinkly cotton) and its lovely and cool for the summer, but I dont like the shape of it...its too...I dunno... full? Im wondering if I could maybe make it into a pair of loose cullottes? do you think that would work? I would have to take away some of the fabric to do this then split it in the middle and sew up....Thats the idea but Im no dressmaker though I can sew...so any tips/ suggesations would be most appreciated! I dont want to end up with a pair of shorts that would suit a pensioner going on a coach trip! lol

And lastly I found this little gem in my summer box!

Its not one of the bigger things I bought it last year off ebay before I started dieting as I loved it so much but at a size 12 I didnt give myself much hope of getting into it...fast forward almost 12 months and it fits! Its a strapless sun dress which can also be worn as a skirt as it has a stretchy band top, it has a lovely crocheted effect on the hem ...I cant wait for it to be warm enough to wear this!

Just to end I am working on a giveaway which should be ready hopefully this week to celebrate the blog reaching 20 followers- woohoo- watch this space!

Have a great day everyone! x

Stand by my accusations, I'll come clean I don't need no vice....

Happy Saturday everyone!

Sorry for being AWOL the past 2 days my lovely OH decided to take the camera to work with him yesterday so no pics for me! And life has been busy as usual so this is the first chance I have had to sit down and update!

Anyway I will post my outfit from Thursday-officially day one of the no black waistdown challenge (dum de dumm dumm!!) I must admit Im already struggling with this as my black leggings are my default piece of clothing if Im unsure of something!

Anyway I didnt go all out there with colour Im afraid! I wore:

Blue skinny jeans- New Look via ebay
pink cami top- so old cant remember!
nude coloured chiffon ruffle front blouse- this is from my former bigger days- its an 18 (eep) but its so floaty I can still get away with wearing it now as a looser style (beleive me it was'nt loose before!)- and since nudes are in now I thought I would try and bring it back to life.
purple and pink snakeskin pumps- Priceless- love them for cheapy shoes!

Green leather look bomber jacker- about 99p off ebay.
green and silver scarf
brown and gold thread slouchy hat

So there you go not a pick of black in sight! Ok so not as adventurous as some but I like it!

I went to the big Primark at the Metro Centre on Thursday as I wanted to get a couple of basics. Well I did get basics but a couple of other things too (oops). I got:

Rose print skirt with gold waistband. Bottle green tights (50p) they say Khaki on the pack but they are green.

2 basic vests one white, one black. Saw the other vest on the left and couldnt resist it- it has got a butterfly back afterall! At only £4.00 its a bargain!

Basic black v neck (I love these basic tops they wash really well) one stripey v neck top (thinking can nautical this up?lol)

Ditsy print vest with tie shoulders and a stack of green stretchy bangles- just because lol.

So a mini haul, but I have been doing a lot of mini hauling at the minute and its all adding up! Im going to have to become pennywise again and rein myself in. I have realised I now own more than enough stuff to mix and match, I could do with some more basic vest etc when the summers here but that still seems a long time off!

I have a few things left over from my bigger days that I am thinking of talioring to suit me now. I will endevour to post some pics of these items over the next few day to see what you think and how I could alter or refashion them!

Have a great Saturday night everyone!

Static and silence and a monochrome vision......

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Hope you are all well.I mananged to buy some party invitation this morning (butterfly ones haha) and was very good did not go home via all the clothes shops or even upstairs to the clothes department at Tescos...went in got invite's and came home *polishes halo and feels smug*. So thats one thing ticked off the list for Jasmine's birthday party!

Todays outfit is totally unispired I pulled it all out this morning and thought that matches I will wear that. Im not going anywhere this afternoon just cleaning etc so comfy fits the bill.

Im wearing: Black and white swirl print jersey dress- Next via ebay. I have a love/hate relationship with this dress, on one hand I love it for its comfy stretchy jersey and the print, on the other I hate it when it clings so much and shows off all my bulges! This came with the black belt I am wearing with it...but it had no less than 5 belt loops around it which made the belt sit too high for my liking so I cut them all off. Becasue of this I have nowhere to tuck the end of the belt in...so I belted it and looped it over into a knot effect...I think it looks quite good.

Over this I wore a cropped ruched sleeve cardi I bought from ebay the other day.
Black leggings which are a staple in my life and my black pumps bought from Tescos the other day.

Jewellery is a long necklace with black and silver beads, small square black studs and a chunky bangle.

All very matchy matchy and all very safe! I wish I could experiment more with colour but Im so scared of getting it wrong!

I realy feel I should set myself some sort of challenge with regards to these black leggings as I alway seem to fall back on them, and given I have some lovely coloured tights now I maybe should push myself to start wearing them? What do you think- do you want to set me a challenge for a week that will bring me out of my (black) comfort zone? All suggestions appreciated!

Have a good day everyone :)

Sun in the sky you know how I feel......

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Its a glorious day here the sun is shining, its still cold but its lovely out and its lifted my mood now end!

I went to the shops this morning to have a look. Admitedly I went to buy party invitations but seemed to get distracted by the 1/2 price sale at Matalan (oops). They had loads of lovely stuff in the sale I could have spent a fortune, but I was quite restrained I think. Most of the Beau (?) range was half price, I put this down to the fact that 99% of the population round here go round in trainers and jogging bottoms- no one seems to wear coloured tights, skirts or pretty florals. Oh well all the more for me!

Rooting around I found a full rail of these beautiful skirts. At £7.00 I had to have one. It has the same hem design as the dress I wore to the wedding on Saturday, and since I had so many lovely comments on the shape I thought why not? I think it will look fab with coloured tights and my black pumps- or when its summer equally lovely with a vest and some flip flops (I actually have some nice ones that I already know will go with it)- see Im learning!

Speaking of tights I have been looking to build on my collection- though Im still nervous about wearing coloured tights out (daft isnt it?). So when I saw these ones at only £1.50 each I grabbed them! The ones on the right are actually proper turqouise ones that I have been searching for for what seems like forever. I also got some Argyle patterned ones as I love that pattern and they will go with anything.

I also got this lovely ring, its purple with a floral pattern and it fits me! All my other rings are too big so it was nice to find one that fits on a finger and not a thumb!

Anyway to justify this mini spend I have decided to transfer the amount I paid from the paypal balance to the bank account- so Im spend neutral- right?? lol

I really really really want this though! Its soooo gorgeous in real life but I could only justify buying it if we get a proper summer as I doubt I would wear it otherewise- still gorgeous though- need to sell some more stuff on ebay me thinks!

Oh and I never found any party invites I liked haha!

So todays outfit was inspired my Alex at oddsockandprettyfrocks and her haul yesterday (still after that pretty pretty polka dot dress). I decided to wear my Primark floral tea dress. I have a small problem with this dress in that its a wee bit too small for me...so much so the button round my middle tends to pop open every now and then- eek!oh well diet time again I think! Hence why I have put a long sleeve t shirt under. I was going to wear some grey tights with this but as you can see the dress is short! So on go the trusty leggings...I think i need to set myself a challenge of no leggings for a week or so? What do you think? I wore this with my long pirate boots, pink beret (and matching scarf) and my black coat as it was still frosty ooutside this morning. I wore my vintage stlye butterfly necklace, small gold effect drop earrings and a couple of stretchy bangles (I need more jewellery!).

(excuse Gromit in the backgorund having a snooze lol)

So there you go- have fun in the sun today everyone! x

Nice day for a white wedding........

Morning people and Happy Monday!

Wow the weekends gone quick hasnt it? We attended my step sisters wedding on Saturday and had a lovely time. it was slightly stressful getting everyone ready and trying to keep them all clean til we left but we managed it!

My outfit was bought entirely from ebay (well you wouldnt expect anything less from me would you?) and I was pretty chuffed with the result! I wore black strapless dress with (dunno how you would describe it) cinderella hem? Hankie hem? Parachute??? Dunno but it went up and down in seperate layers! This was from Jane Norman (bought new). Over this I wore a mint green mohair shrug from New Look (new with tags). My Dotty P's black and white cross stap mary janes- I originally wanted to wear my peep toe shoes but the weather and the fact that I had the kids with me meant I went a bit more practical with my footwear. Jewellery was a lovely 3 strand imitation pearl necklace with bow fastening and a pair of pearl drop earrings. A green bracelet was need to cover up my disaterous fake tan lines (tip do not fake tan the night before a do as it will alway look bad/ streaky!)and a huge green cocktail ring.

I can safely say my dress stayed up all day which was a worry for me given it it strapless and was very comfortable. I felt really nice even if my hair went a tad frizzy from being straightened!

Ive included a pic of my mum and I at the wedding. She looked very much the mother of the bride and wore a fushia skirt suit with black tights and some wicked patent shoes with purple heels (I should have taken a pic they are so fab!). shame shes only a size 3 else I would have thrifted (pinched) them lol. i look blimming awful in that pic as I was very flushed and felt bad as I was full of (man) flu!

Todays outfit I wanted a bit of colour in my outfit so I went for: Long black skirt with flower hem and sequins- 99p via, yes you guessed it, ebay! Black puff sleeve jumper from Primark with a black cami under. I teamed this with my raspberry tights bought from Primark ages ago- only £1.00 and the most comfy tights I own and my new black ballet pumps bought last week from Tescos. Simple purple butterfly necklace and purple drop earrings.

I must admit I was dreading going out in these tights! I have worn them before but alway covered them up with my boots so to have them on full show was a big thing! I got a few looks walking into school this morning but I dont care, they will have to get used to it 'as the blue ones I bought the other day are still to come lol.

Excuse the state of my horrid sofa the cat has decided its his scratching post! Roll on a few months time when I can get a new one!

Anyway looong post! Hope you all have a lovely day whatever you are doing!

Nothing to do but frown rainy days and Mondays always get me down.

Happy Friday everyone!

Now I know its Friday and not Monday but judging by the miserable weather today this song lyric was pretty apt. Im run down and feel full of cold so a quick trip to Tescos this morning to buy a multi vit and some eichenea (sp??). I also had a nose upstairs at the vast clothes section and I found these shoes. Ive been after some black flat pumps for a while but wanted something a little bit different, and these fit the bill perfectly. At £10 they are very reasonable and I will get loads of wear out of them (well I will if the rain/ snow ever stops?). they look patent in the pic but they are leather (well pleather lol).

So on a roll I decided to nip into Peacocks before I headed home and got these colbat blue tights in the sale a bargain at £1.50. I think they will go great with my black pencil skirt and the black pumps as Im going to try the nautical look. All I need to do is get some brass buttons to change the plain black ones on my skirt and maybe a stripey vest top and a red cardi?

Anyway not much of a haul but its cheered me up! Today I went for comfy as I slept badly and woke up late (story of my life).

Im wearing: black and white flower tunic dress- Oasis via ebay. This did have one of those tie things you tie at the back but I cut it off as it was so bulky and I think they add pounds anyway.
Scoop neck 3/4 length sleeve top- Matalan.
black leggings- Tescos (it was cold out though so I think I will chuck some tights on under these when I go out again later).

And to contrast the black I decided to go clashing with my outerwear. So I wore my electric blue mac and pink sequin beret. My butterfly brown bag and some brown jewellery completes the outfit. boring brown boots again but these are so good for this weather!

I have a busy afternoon ahead as Jasmine has her first dance class this afternoon, I really hope she enjoys it.

Have a good day everyone!
